Bengali is an anglicization of Bangla, Bangala, or Bangabhasa, language belonging to the Indo-Aryan family. It is spoken by over 200 million people in Bangladesh, the Indian States of West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura, and a sizeable number of immigrant communities in the UK.
